Aerial Yoga (Trapeze) | Rise & Release Retreat, Greece: Day 2
2 July 2026
Day 2 of the Rise & Release Retreat on Amorgos. Jackie takes the group off the mat and into the air with aerial yoga on the trapeze, a playful, freeing way to release what's holding us down.
Day 2: up in the air
If Day 1 was about arriving and letting go, Day 2 was about learning to trust, quite literally, hanging upside down on a trapeze.
Aerial yoga is one of my favourite things to bring into a yoga retreat in Amorgos, there's something about being off the ground that gets people out of their heads completely. You can't overthink a backbend when you're wrapped in silk three feet in the air. There's a lot of laughter, a few wobbly moments, and by the end, everyone's found a pose they didn't think they could do.
It's a reminder that release doesn't always look like stillness, sometimes it looks like play.
There's a moment in every aerial session, usually somewhere around the first inversion, where I watch someone's face shift from nervous to delighted. That's the whole point of Day 2. We spend so much energy holding ourselves together, and the trapeze quite literally asks you to let go and trust the fabric will hold you. It always does.
By the end of today, the group felt lighter, not just from the practice, but from laughing at each other's wobbles along the way.
